My name is Darshini, my involvement in the national agenda started in year 2008 when I was chosen as one of the Ambassadors of Peace to Manila by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) of Malaysia. My visit to Manila opened my eyes to the poverty issues in Malaysia which were alarming at that time. Since then, I was involved in the UPF and other local NGOs in Malaysia. My passion in traveling and photography brought me to discover peoples' living conditions in many countries, such as Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore. Upon various involvements in national and international affairs, my aim is to promote PEACE and HUMANITY across the globe. At the age of 33, I am now am a former Member of Malaysian Youth Parliament and have fought for women’s rights especially in workplace and in family welfare. I have started a movement called Light Up Malaysia to spread awareness on mental health and breaking the stigma on mental illnesses, especially to prevent the number of suicide cases which is alarming.
